Eleven-year-old Nina tries to help a young boy being tormented by teenagers on a lakeshore. The gang turns on the girl and pushes her underwater. Nina survives without physical injury, but suffers severe trauma. Psychologists recommend dolphin therapy in Florida. After initial progress, Nina suffers another trauma when she observes fishermen trying to catch "her" dolphin, Domino. Only in the water can she help him.
