An orphan is provisionally adopted by the manager of a hotel populated by show-business people. The hotel's owner doesn't like the entertainers and wants the girl returned to the orphanage.
From the synopsis it should be no surprise that this is a musical, and the plot turns on a version of the "Let's put on a SHOW!" storyline done many times in Hollywood and elsewhere. It manages to combine that with the "Let's go to COURT!" storyline and the show is put on before a grumpy old trial judge. ~10-year-old SHIRLEY TEMPLE demonstrates a more mature singing voice that is much improved over her cutesy, goopy baby-talk voice of earlier years. Her dancing is still terrific.

The Shirley marathon goes on. :P

Thanks, Night. You seem to own a lot of DVDs of her.

ALL of the DVDs as far as I know. That was from before a handful of her movies started getting BluRays, and those I downloaded as rips by eMule (from FLM) and torrent. The rest of her filmography I had to fill out with streaming and WebDLs of wildly varying quality. My obsessions know few bounds.
