A rare and obscure Nordic children's art film, please enjoy it. ;)

Thanks - but before I get it (is 5gb), are there english subtitles?
Crazy and sad that films starring kids of this vintage - they've probably died of old age since! Do the maths on a film made 74 year ago...

Thanks Kissonline!

Note, the big.fileditchstuff DL link is fast and the same as the eMule link.
THERE ARE NO SUBTITLES.

At the blizzardkid entry, Lik wrote:
There is a detailed description in Danish for this case. Machine translation gives almost complete disclosure of the plot.
Short version:
After his father died while fishing, the responsibility for his younger brother and two sisters falls on the shoulders of a 16-year-old boy.
I do not know whether I will give the full synopsis a refresher read before or instead after watching it, but here it is translated to English--
Full Description :
Spoiler:

In the dunes of the west coast, 16-year-old Per dreams of his own boat while he fills his days with duties and play. His youth comes to an abrupt end when Per's father [dies], and it is suddenly up to Per to provide for his three siblings. Per is hired on a fishing boat and soon learns that life at sea is harsh and dangerous. (scope.dk) ***

So much money that they can buy Kræ Brejning's boat. Per's dream has come true – he has become a skipper. Instead of fighting the Landlubbers, he must fight the stormy sea – the boy has become a man!

Per Brask (Kjeld Bentzen) is a fisherman's boy, a healthy kid of 16 years. Still too young to be at sea, even though, like the other North Sea boys, he has to participate in the hard daily work. He dreams of one day having his own boat. Led by Per, the dune boys are waging war against the landlubbers, who are led by the strong Jørgen (Jens Konge Rasmussen). He has settled in an old dilapidated mill by the fjord. One day, a sudden change occurs in Per's carefree life. His father perishes at sea.

His mother died several years ago, so now Per is alone in providing for his two sisters Else (Anne Grethe Hilding) and Birgit (Nette Høj Hansen) and younger brother Mads (Lars Henning-Jensen). Now he has to be a man with a man's responsibility, while Else takes care of the household in the small, poor home. He suffers a lot of anguish in finding himself. He is still the boy who wants to play and the adult man who has to work for a living. He comes out on Kræ Brejning's (Ejner Federspiel) boat and gets to know the harsh life at sea.

There are many sleepless nights and long tiring days. Always something to get ready for the next night's fishing. An engine damage forces Kræ to quit and Per loses his only income. The liquor smuggler Værle (Preben Lerdorff Rye) tries to persuade Per to go with him. Per feels tempted, but then gets a job on building a dam.

However, the landlubbers have discovered that there are smugglers at play. They capture Værle, and Per, who has had his skin turned against him, is only saved by Jørgen's comradely intervention. The two become friends and together they work on the dam and earn so much money that they can buy Kræ Brejning's boat. Per's dream has come true – he has become a skipper. Instead of fighting the Landlubbers, he must fight the stormy sea – the boy has become a man!
