A young girl’s gift for communicating with animals gives her guardians the idea of offering consultations with her as an animal medium in order to earn a living. The roles are clearly delineated: the woman, Myriam, interprets the messages that the girl, Anika, receives while Myriam’s partner Roger negotiates the price for each transaction. On the dusty roads of the Argentinian countryside, the supernatural is not greatly valued and the opportunistic adults take whatever little money they can get. But one thing is certain: whether magic or fraud, Anika’s commitment in the sessions with domestic and wild animals is real. The unusual trio journeys to Anika’s mother who is institutionalised in a psychiatric hospital and, like all the women in her family, appears to possess the same gift. As their trip unfolds, it becomes clear that little Anika is the one providing comfort to the adults. An emotional road movie in which maturity means realising that innocence is a treasure to be protected.

Why do they love black and white film so much, but add color on the poster?

Probably the same reason black&white movies on video often had yellow subtitles, to make the text stand out?

Thanks, so they know that the lack of color can cause readability problems. I just really don't like them still use b/w tones throughout the entire movie in modern times. This greatly reduces my interest to watching.

Honestly, I agree with Sue04's comment, I've never liked these black-and-white films either. But I shared it anyway for those who appreciate these black-and-white films. Everyone has their own tastes.

I am almost the reverse: I don't like it when a movie has some black & white and some color, unless there is a real thematic reason for it. (Dorothy leaves her dull and boring home and ends up in the brilliant and exciting Oz.) I admit that as much as I like old movies in B&W it does seem like a pretentious choice now to have a movie all B&W. But I certainly have not seen this film, so for all I know there might be a good reason here.

As for subtitles, I think that nowadays BluRays of B&W movies have the digital subtitles with a border so that they are readable even when white. The old yellow video subtitles were analog so there was a limit to their clarity in the first place.

Is that animal a hedgehog or a baby porcupine?

Thank you! If I was able to see its chin, maybe that would make the difference for me.

I appreciate you sharing them and would love to know about these new movies. My comments are for those filmmakers.
