2012 one is 360p or 720p; 2018 one adds 540p and 1080p also. It also credits the short as being "shot on 16mm Ektachrome for high contrast/saturation". I compared and other than the one maxing out at 720p they look the same.
Maybe the channel owner does not know how to remove old video uploads, just add them?

Yes, the one in the 2nd post is the upgraded 1080p version.
