[REL] Le bel ete 1914 (1996)

Set during the Summer of 1914 in the rural French countryside, this film follows two couples and their children. Pretty and nicely done but will be hard to follow unless you are familiar with the film's language. One of the major plots seems to focus on a first love affair between a boy (Robinson Stevenin) of about thirteen and a female peer.

This movie isn't focused mainly on the kids, though they have quite a lot of screen time. Several families are staying at a luxurious chateau/castle. They all seem to be part of an extended family on summer holiday. There are several "mix-n-match" affairs going on, including the love-hungry teenage girls trying out their wiles on the only available boy in their age group. Lots of pretty scenery, but almost all of it
is actual scenery.

It's not a
bad movie, but it's not in my top favorites list.
