Looks rather good - maybe our frind from the lostmovies can oblige ?

This British-made film cast from the Disney mold has a brother(Jack Wild) and younger sister fleeing their loutish stepfather in England to find their grandmother in Ireland. Along the journey they are assisted by a motley assortment of colorful characters, and are pursued by a menacing relative(an uncle, if I remember)who believes their appearance will deprive him of an inheiritance. The uncle, played by Ron Moody, affects a series of disguises to trick the kids, but always gets the shaft. A beautiful soundtrack score enhances the film. Not readily available, so catch it if you can on television.

Constantly bullied by their cruel stepfather, Finn Dove (JACK WILD) and his young sister Derval (HELEN RAYE) decide to run away. But their great escape across the sea to Ireland proves to be as famous as it is thrilling - with their very lives at stake.
Their wicked Uncle Hawk (RON MOODY), a brilliant master of disguise, discovers the kids are heirs to a great fortune and, if they die or can't be traced, he will get all the money.
As Finn and Derval stow away on a Dublin-bound steamer, evil Hawk, disguised as a policeman is hard on their heels......

I agree [if just for the lush landscape alone], movies filmed in Ireland, no matter how desperate the storyline, have a beautiful look about them...

Almost has overtones of being a more dramatic prequel to 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'..

Indeed......a beautiful country that I know extremely well. Lots of spectacular scenery with that lush green look that comes from a mild but wet climate. The people are SO friendly too.......quite surprising really considering how badly the English have treated them in the past & epitomised in the movie 'Ryan's Daughter'.......a monumental box-office flop but ultimately considered a classic. As a kid I was fortunate to be holidaying on the West Coast (Dingle Peninsular) shortly after the movie was shot & enjoyed a visit to the village, entirely purpose built from scratch for the movie. The beaches have to be seen to be believed.........mile after mile of golden sands & totally deserted! Although not FLM material I recommend this movie to anyone who likes stunning scenery, a decent & quite believable storyline & some fine acting.
