The Brood (1979)

A father forbids his unstable wife confined to inpatient therapy to receive visits from their five year old daughter (Cindy Hinds) when the girl returns home one day covered with bruises and scratches. Soon, friends and family members are being murdered by deformed mutant children who seem to have a liking for our little heroine. Might there be a connection?

I think this boring post needs brightening up a bit.

I haven't watched this since I had it on VHS in the early 80's. Kinda creepy and a little ob/gyn-gory.

I can only assume you are referring to how she produces her little brood? Not having watched this since I was young I was indeed surprised at the showing of her with child/growth and how well done her birth of a whatever it is was is displayed. It was very shocking back in 79 when this was shown and still a little shocking today. Great film that I enjoyed very much. It gives a bit of suspense and gore without going too far like 98% of horror films produced today. Cindy is cute, enjoyable in every scene she was in and the quality despite a little picture noise present in some outdoors scenes I thought the blu-ray transfer was very nice and the sound crisp. It really takes you back to the time period when this was made.

I haven't watched this rip yet, but if I recall correctly
, Cindy Hinds/Hines had almost zero facial expression, like she was heavily medicated. She's cute, but IMO wasn't much of an actress. I don't recall her in any of the other 3 or 4 films she was in so I don't know if she improved. Of course, this was her first film and she was only 6 or 7 years old, but other actresses have done better even younger, so...
Still, this film was in my VHS collection and I liked it, it just wasn't one I ever replaced, so it's a welcome addition.
