I saw this film many years ago and still feel a little traumatised by it. The main plot is an adoption story in difficult circumstances, but there is a short visit to one of the infamous Romanian institutions for the mentally handicapped children created under the Ceauşescu regime. The children are shown in horrific conditions - it is VERY OT, but not for the faint hearted.An American couple attempt to overcome the bureaucracy stopping them from adopting a Romanian child.
