Fans of Yella Rottländer ("Alice in den Städten") might be interested.

Correct subs but timing is way off. I tried the standard adjustment (making the subs match the first and the last line), which often fixes timing problems, but some lines in the middle are still off by 10 seconds. The movie (and girl!) looks interesting, so I'll have to look for more subs or adjust these ones or find a different source which matches the subs, when I get a chance some day ([Image])

Moving this to REL, thanks BLT!

LOL nice icon/smiley. :clap

Appreciate the effort, FLL and BLT. Yes, this looks like a keeper, so subs are definitely worth the effort.

Actually it just occurred to me that this might be one of BLT's REQs-instead-of-posting-his-own-rip, in which case if he his has subs he might be able to get us a good rip with external subs. It also seems to be out on DVD in R1 so I can get it and rip it instead of playing with the subs too much.

My DVD has only French subs.

I will check if the posted subs match my DVD.

Subs match my DVD with 8.5 sec delay. Try to subtract 8.5 sec from subs and see if that fixes the problem.

Not that simple, adjusting the offset was the first thing tried (can do it right in VLC, don't even need Subtitle Workshop). The last spoken line in the subs is at 1:23:57 but the posted avi file is only 1:21:04 long total. The next thing tried was using SW to sync the first line and the last line and sometimes that works (for example when the subs were done on an NTSC version but the rip is from PAL, they have a predictable speed differential), but not this time. Surprising that the avi has dual soundtracks, usually that means DVDRip and the available subs match.

I found this in IMDB that probably explains it:

Runtime: Spain:78 min | West Germany:90 min | USA:90 min

BTW, the movie was shot in Spain, because Wenders lost some funding and could not shoot the movie in USA as originally planned. Another funny fact -- the movie was shot without direct sound and each actor/actress originally spoke his/her native language, so in dialogs one actor was often not understanding what the other one was saying.

I will post my own rip, so you will get one that matches the subs with a simple offset.
