Released more in the spirit of completion for those (like me) interested in the works of Enid Blyton & particularly the Famous Five. Nothing much happens other than some prancing around on stage & some pretty abysmal singing so I'm not expecting my upload queue to be swamped!

As a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Enid Blyton, her best loved creations, 'The Famous Five,' were adapted for a stage musical which has been captured here for Blyton fans across the world.

A musical interpretation of the Enid Blyton adventure "Smuggler's Gold" featuring the inimitable quintet, the Famous Five. Join George, Dick, Julian, Anne and Timmy the Dog for an exciting adventure involving smugglers and spies and dastardly daft crooks. Starring a young and talented blond, a future member of S CLUB 7, Jon Lee. An all-singing all-dancing stage production.

A musical?! Poor Pinwheel Enid. Got to get this one.

Lord! What a crock! Don't expect Andrew Lloyd Webber class.

I suppose my biggest gripe about theatrical productions is that the roles are cast primarily for the actors' ability to remember their lines, and to stay on their feet for a fair amount of time. In musical theater, they have to be able to carry a tune as well. Looks and likeability get pushed further and further down the list of desirable traits. If the talent pool available for casting is not large (as appears to have been the case here), then the casting directors end up scraping the bottom of the barrel.

On the positive side, you can throw those sleeping pills away - you'll never need them again. Also, plenty of really cute kids in the audience.
