Wow, yes, yes, yesss :onfire

This looks VERY interesting for me. I am a fan of Greenaway, even if most of his movies are off-topic for FLM. And I have never seen this!!!

While I'm at it, here is a clip from another Greenaway's movie, "A Zed and Two Noughts":

Thanks idler!! I too am a fan of Peter Greenaway.

I feel like he embodies the essence of true 'independent' film making. Each of his movies are a passion-of-the-heart and not something he makes purely for 'commercial' sale-ability...

I love his work as I am in absolute awe over his stunning visuals; but you have to be ready to watch his films knowing that you have to focus your attention on the film and nothing else.

My favorite visual film by far [especially for OT'ness] is 'Prospero's Books'. An amazing adaptation of Shakespeare's 'The Tempest', where nudity abounds [& abounds & abounds... ;) ], and you are enveloped in this [almost] claustrophobic Utopia that Prospero has created for himself.

'A Zed and Two Noughts' was my cherry busting first experience with Greenaway, and I fell in love with that movie too. [Snails, snails snails..] I think of it every time I eat escargot.. :thumbsup

'Death in the Seine' was posted here also: https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... eath+seine Only a couple of children featured but intriguing to watch...

Geeze... As BLT said, most of his films are not FLM material, but the ones that are available anywhere are SOO worth checking out... [ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000425/ ]

Thanks again idler for posting this film! Greenaway films should be welcome anywhere! :onfire

This clip was enough for me to look for the whole movie. There are several versions including a 4.3GB bluray, but I'm downloading a small one because of bandwidth. Ihaven't downloaded this all the way but there are complete sources.

ZOO is definitely worth watching...
Oliver Deuce, a successful doctor, is shattered when his wife is killed in a freak car accident involving the car being driven by Alba Bewick colliding with a very large rare bird. His twin brother Oswald is researching how carcasses decay at the local zoo. Alba survives the accident although she loses one leg, and her sinister physician eventually removes the other 'because it looked so sad all alone'. Oswald and Oliver become involved in a menage a trois with Alba, and uncover very dubious trafficking in zoo property. But ultimately their only goal is to try and understand their mortal condition.
Alba Bewick has the cute daughter Beta :heart

Soundtrack by Michael Nyman:

BTW, just watched "Bathrooms". Not much OT, but very enjoyable, typical Greenaway movie. Nyman's sountrack too. I'm going to watch it again.

A Zed & Two Noughts is definitely an "unusual" movie. Agnes Brulet (who plays Beta Bewick), has a very minor role, but is cute. Sadly, ZOO isn't really an FLM movie - it focuses entirely on the two brothers and their relationship with Alba Bewick. I can't say I'm a Greenaway fan, but ZOO was interesting enough to keep me watching all the way to the end. I know that sounds like damning with faint praise, but I've seen far worse movies and many that bored me so much I just turned them off.
