aka For My Name's Sake
What a heartrending short film (27 minutes) made by students at a Russian film academy. This is definitely a keeper.
The little girl is so sweet. She is homeless and wanders around the countryside trying to survive after her mother is killed in a war. The villagers, especially the children, discriminate against her because her mother was a Fascist. The village priest takes her in and she adores him, and gradually the other villagers accept her. He is taken away by the authorities and everyone is devastated, especially the little girl.
Thanks corsarace, and thanks for the subs starfish.

Thanks Phuzzy for review, sounds like I should check this out myself! "Because of My Name" does not feel like correct translation, though. In Starfish's srt, the title is translated as "FOR MY NAME'S SAKE". Compare "za rodinu" (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... 0rodinu%21).

You're correct, I misquoted, sorry. It's what I had in my catalog and I didn't double-check the subtitle file.

Thanks for this release. What a sad film, made by students... little Anna (Anya or Annushka) is a priceless little actress, and did a beautiful interpretation of a sad role... it is definitely a keeper for me. A heart-wrenching film with an adorable little firl that one wants to cuddle and hug!
I have retimed the subs .srt file so that it synchronises with the film's sound track. The retimed .srt file has only been made available to eMule in the last three minutes, so you may have to wait for a while until it is recognized as available -
