Synopsis:
Uemura Kana (Ashida Mana) lived with her divorced mother, Yoko, and five siblings. One day when she
was in the lower grades of elementary school, she began living next door with her grandmother
(Iwashita Shima) who was grieving over the death of her grandfather (Kobayashi Nenji). Told by her
grandmother that “there is a toilet god and that she can become a beauty if she polishes the toilet
”, Kana took the initiative in cleaning the toilet, something which she disliked. Before long, she
became a high school student (Kitano Kii). She would get absorbed in her favourite songs and
gradually began to spend less time with her grandmother...

This is Kana Uemura's song "Toilet no Kamisama" turned into a 2-hour drama special on TBS
and it's yet another movie featuring Mana Ashida!
In my opinion, this is the best so far. It's funny, cute and quirky with some dramatic
moments. Mana is in the first 45 minutes of this 100 minute movie playing the younger
version of the lead.
