[REL] Bunny Drop/Usagi doroppu (2011)

Bunny Drop (うさぎドロップ / Usagi Drop) is an upcoming Japanese movie directed by SABU and based on an ongoing manga serial by Yumi Unita. Distributor Showgate is expected to release the film in Japan on August 20, 2011.
Kenichi Matsuyama stars as a young single office worker who begins raising a young girl (Mana Ishida) after discovering that she’s the illegitimate child of his recently deceased grandfather.

I wonder if that means it was released on video or if it was first shown in theaters this past August?

27-year-old Daikichi (Ken'ichi Matsuyama) is a single young man who is trusted by his peers at work. Daikichi then attends his grandfather's funeral. At the funeral the attendees learn that Daikichi's grandfather bore an illegitimate daughter with an unknown mother. The girl's name is Rin (Mana Ashida) and she is just six years old. Everybody in Daikichi's family looks at the girl as an embarrassment and wants no part of her. Daikichi, annoyed by his family's attitude, decides to raise Rin by himself. Daikichi has no experience in raising a child. He soon learns the difficulties in raising a child as a single parent...

Thanks katzenjammer - it looks good... both a nice story and a cutie, to boot. I found and downloaded some English subtitles which fit the action.
