Tomas lives on the Swedish side of Torneo River. His father's Finnish cousin Serkku, a soldier in the Finnish Winter War of 1939-40, came to visit when Tomas was fifteen. Out fishing one day, Serkku abused the young boy sexually. Fifteen years later Tomas, now a police officer, crosses the border looking for revenge.
