Thanks! JDownloader2 doesnt like Vimeo links - is there something else that does? Or are you screen recording?

I use yt-dlp for Vimeo.

As Night said, yt-dlp makes short work of vimeo links. They used to work on jd2. Maybe someday they'll fix that in an upgrade, but right now, even youtube links are not working in jd2.
Would you like some help getting started with yt-dlp?

Yeah - i've used some command line stuff. but do you go to the say c:\mydownloads\ where you have yt-dlp.exe saved ... and then type what? yt-dlp.exe - but what's the typical command to get the highest quality (say up to 1080p) download and make it into a mp4/mkv?

Go up one level from the folder with yt-dlp.exe, right-click and select "Open in Terminal" (may be worded differently for different versions of Windows), it then opens Terminal/Command. Type "yt-dlp URL" where URL is the url you have already copied. Highest quality is the default. You often need ffmpeg in the same folder to have it automatically mux audio and video together for the videos where they download separately. I have my own dedicated yt-dlp folder so there is no other junk in it to distract me.
