Unfortunately for us, the it looks like the distributors took too much license in screwing up the movie. All the good reviews on the link you gave are for the DVD. The one bad review was for the Blu-ray. I will post the review below, translated.

Although restored , but still messed up ! 20th October 2010 By Falk Wolf Format: Blu -ray 

The film was indeed apparently newly restored for the Blu -ray release , but I'm very disappointed : the complete typical Pippi Longstocking font (easy alternately up and down scrambled characters in the typical Pippi font) in the beginning of the film was replaced by a very boring and much too large new font . Although this is very unfortunate, but the worst thing is that the original movie in 4:3 film was cut here in the modern 16:9 format ! This means that the image has been cut up and down very much ! This is very much lost footage and scenes you realize manchnen also clearly ( even if you do not know the old version) that heads or important image information have been cut off ! Why you would do that ? Instead of improving the image is much more worse ! If people really want to see the film in 16:9, then they should just adjust the zoom on their TV that way. But the original, but should still remain unaltered and unabridged ! For my part I 'll keep the old DVD film box and sell these botched Blu- Ray again . She may be a little worse on DVD in sharpness , but it is nevertheless this original Pippi ! Bad that surely the other movies are made just broken on Blu -Ray. And probably will never again published the unadulterated , unabridged version . Therefore: People retain your DVD versions !

As he said hopefully they learn from there mistake on the others. This has happened with Warner Bro.s. They did the same with two early collections of looney tunes, cutting them into 16:9 which chopped off alot of the picture sometimes chopping off important things involving the jokes like signs and stuff. They outcry, reviews and sales of those two dvd's were so bad that they never did that again!

I saw that review but did not take too much from it. First off it was not a verified buyer so take it with a bit of skepticism I always do. Most complaints on Amazon rarely ring true to the actual movie. From my experience some people focus too much on details that matter little when it comes to actually enjoying the film. I have seen hundreds of similar reviews on films that turned out to be trivial self centered rants at best. This reviewer could just be making a presumptuous guess. I have seen black bars put in place to make it 16:9 to fit modern tv but original aspect is left shown within them. Again 'we' don't have the source to know for sure.

The original dvd was mastered from a tv master 1.33 : 1 which was altered from the original 35mm shot at a 1.55 : 1 and now this one Amazon states at 1.77:1. The real question is it an improvement of quality, my bet is yes and is anything we care about seeing still there, again I bet yes it is. Only movie here that I have seen that has a similar scenario is Pretty Baby and having every single version of that film I know that nothing of real interest was missing from the best source available even though it too was cropped.

That being said it appears there is most likely no original aspect available, as such what we are looking for is an upgrade to what we have and this would be that.

For some reason Amazon won't let me order this, all torrents I have found have not been seeded for a long time(dead) but I did see a listing for the full uncompressed file on usenet NZB(of which I don't use). Perhaps someone else can get this?
