To mark the third year of the Syrian crisis, the relief organization Save the Children produced this viral ad campaign, ostensibly shot as a "one second a day for a year" video, depicting a crisis like the one in Syria happening in England in an effort to raise money for Syrian child refugees. It has already garnered 26 million views since it was uploaded a week ago. The girl's name is Lily-Rose Aslandogdu and she's not really famous. She doesn't even have an imdb page.

I just stumbled on these and...wow, very powerful and well directed. The way you can pause any given second and see bits of storytelling, such as newspaper headlines, is really clever and well done. It reminds me of the movie The Unloved viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5649&hilit=the+unloved if you look at that movie it is all shot roughly eye level of the actress, and in numerous scenes she looks directly into the camera, including the last shot of the film, which is just a long shot staring into the camera/your soul. Generally, obviously, you don't want the actor to look at the camera, but the way these handle it does add an extra level of connection to the characters and their plight, and maybe even a twinge of guilt like, "You're watching this and doing nothing??"
Makes me wish for a one shot style film shot like this. It would be like The Unloved meets Children of Men or something along those lines.
Unless I'm overlooking it, I don't see the second part in the this thread...
