"Eia's Christmas at Phantom Owl Farm" is about a 10-year-old girl Eia who, due to many coincidences, has to spend her Christmas break at a Southern-Estonian farm called Phantom Owl Farm. Little Eia has no idea that she would be the one to save the forest behind the farm from being cut down by a greedy forest manager, Raivo. Eia's arrival helps two young people find love and helps Eia find out her family's biggest secret.

Bright, colorful and cheerful Christmas-to-New Year's family movie with a strong environmental theme and gorgeous outdoor wildlife scenery. I noticed everyone lived in huge log houses with piles of firewood outside, but I assume all that wood was conscientiously harvested from sustainable, owl-free tree farms and not from the nearby forest which must be protected.

This version is a remux of the French dub and its higher-quality video with the original Estonian language track and internal English, Russian and Estonian subtitles. Since the English and Russian subs are a little glitchy and miss a few lines of dialog before they display, there is also an external English subtitle file which is complete and displays much more cleanly.

I just watched this and it is a great movie. It worked nicely with my new vlc viewer and I did notice the problem with the english subs so I am hopeing that Night will post his improved eng subs for me and then I will watch it again.

I started to panic when I read your post because I immediately wondered "Did I promise an improvement all those years ago and then never deliver???" But I reread my post.

This is how I described it:

Without examining the internal subtitles, my GUESS at what I meant is that some of the lines were not timed properly to be long enough and just flickered so that they were only visible for mere milliseconds. I don't know if I found a different subtitle file or if I converted the internal DVDsub to srt and then fixed it. I might not have even known how to do that back then. It was soooo long ago! Whatever it was, I don't think I am quite qualified to make the same sort of improvement for the Cyrillic alphabet Russian subtitles.
