Simón is a ladies man who makes his living smuggling illegal immigrants from Cuba to New York, where he drops them off and leaves them to find their own way. One day the US Coast Guard catches him on a run and chases him to the edge of Cuban waters. Andrés, a young sailor on his boat, saves Simón's life - taking a bullet in the process. While recovering from his wounds he falls in love with Marie, a seductive 16-year-old who lives at the brothel run by Simón's lover but who the older man is smitten with himself. Conflict is inevitable. Young couple Marie and Andrés want to run off to America but Simón will do everything in his power to stop them.

Beautiful 16-year-old Ana de Armas in her debut role. Apparently she was quite a bit more shy than her character, teenage escort Marie. The nude and sexual stuff was painfully awkward and difficult at first. Lucky for us Ana either loosened up as the shoot went along or faked it well. ¡Viva Cuba!

This disc features original Spanish audio and optional English subtitles. I also included a 720p rip that I found, it may just be an upscale and has no English subs but it's smaller than the DVD and the quality is good.

All I ask is that if you're able to use eMule, please unrar to your shared folder and seed this for a while. Every source helps. You can still burn an .iso file to disc while it's being shared. It won't interfere with the recording process.

It looks as if the English subtitles on the DVD.iso are only complete until around 1:19:07, and are missing for the remaining 9 minutes of dialog.

There are dvdripped English subtitles downloadable from opensubitles, but they are also incomplete (as stated by the uploader).

However, the 720p.mkv file has complete French subtitles, to the end of the movie. So I took the existing partial English subtitles and resynced them to the 720p.mkv file, then filled in the remaining 9 minutes of subtitles with a machine translation of the French. (For some reason I could not get them properly resynced for the DVD version, so I gave up on that one. Maybe VLC is just not cooperating with properly syncing an external .srt to an .iso file.)

I couldn't find that myself. It wasn't available from any other site (only the NTSC), sold out on Amazon and not listed on ebay. Thanks for posting! The webrip version looks like it was probably upscaled from the PAL disc.

Ana de Armas is great, thanks for sharing, I will definitely watch this movie.

She also played beautifully in the films Knives Out and No Time to Die.

Oddly the 720p mkv has no detectable frame rate in VLC - but opening it in MediaInfo it thinks the FPS is 30 - which is very odd for any film unless ripped from USA TV. Would expect 23.97 (film) or 25 (European DVD or TV).
Anyway, Night's subtitles seem to match the audio well - so well done on that fix!
