Hola.org is a browser extension that also works from Chrome. It's very easy to install with one click. If the extension is live, then you have to select with a small flag the country from which you want to view the given website, this will change your IP address and thus allow you to access previously hidden content.
Hola can be turned off with a click of the button. In addition, we can not only hide our IP address with it, but even our browsing speeds up thanks to the technology.
Hola uses Peer-to-peer technology, which means that we use the resources of other users connected to the network, similar to when we torrent, except that it does not slow down our machine.
There is also a premium version, then we do not need to add our own resources to the network, but this is already paid.

Re: Change IP
This is IMO dangerous, because, unlike torrents, strangers can theoretically use this extension to do illegal things from your IP address. For example, hack a bank in NorwayGery106 wrote: Sun Jul 23, 2023 12:20 pm Hola uses Peer-to-peer technology, which means that we use the resources of other users connected to the network, similar to when we torrent, except that it does not slow down our machine.
Anyway, there are similar extensions, like Urban-VPN, which are used by some members.

I am curious mimzy -- what are your thoughts on my paranoia (?) about UrbanVPN, which I detailed in the Spoiler at the post you linked? I ask because I know you can give a much more knowledgeable evaluation.mimzy wrote: Sun Jul 23, 2023 10:59 pm Anyway, there are similar extensions, like Urban-VPN, which are used by some members.
Re: Change IP
I totally agree with everything you wrote. I would never install it, but in exceptional cases, if you badly need an IP in another country, and you are protected by your normal VPN, and you are sure that the extension can be completely uninstalled, it could be OKNight457 wrote: Mon Jul 24, 2023 12:26 am I am curious mimzy -- what are your thoughts on my paranoia (?) about UrbanVPN, which I detailed in the Spoiler at the post you linked? Re: Change IP
It is the "completely uninstalled" part that I am not sure about. Something like REVO Uninstaller is great for software but inapplicable for extensions, and likely useless for actual virus/trojan/worm/whatever malware.
But the botnets are motivated to keep my old computer working and are apparently doing well at that, so I have not had to replace it yet!

Re: Change IP
I used it and I was disappointed when I put it in a video, it can only be seen in the country of origin, I get an error, they already protect themselves by VPN
