A man gets roped into participating in a 100 kilometer walk and along the way meets a number of interesting characters as well as has a number of flashbacks regarding his family and friends. A boy of about ten and a girl of around nine star as his children and have small yet significant roles.

Never was able to get this complete, but I just found it at
