Here's what my FLM looks like:

It isn't FLM dark mode, it's from the Dark Reader Extension. I've been meaning to make a post about this, for people with delicate little eyeballs like my own.

I believe Dark Reader has browser extensions for most major browsers, but I am not sure. Totally worth a try.

It is NOT perfect. All "make internet dark mode" extensions are imperfect. This is just the best one I've seen. One issue is you occasionally get a brief "flash" of the original background color of the website while browsing. But still, it's made a huge improvement to my overall enjoyment of time on the computer.

I am sorry but I am afraid the answer is "No".

There are a limited number of changes that can be made at FLM to the board style and color. Click the icon of a head and shoulders at the top of the page and select "User Control Panel". Then go to "Board preferences" and scroll down to "My board style:". Select a different option and click "Submit".

There is really not much difference among them. The only one that looks really different is "prosilver", which is how FLM looked many years ago. In prosilver style, the head and shoulders icon is replaced by a miniature of my chosen avatar.

There used to be a black version of the Elegance style, but it is no longer supported and looked pretty awful IMHO.

Basically we just need an alternate CSS with different colours. If somebody wants to create a black variation of the current Elegance style, we can install it.

I haven't read all the discussion, so maybe there is something like that already in the works.

Nowadays I find light styles more pleasant for my eyes. I just used to have problems with old CRT monitors that had low refresh rates causing light colours to flicker badly...

Thank you mimzy for the details!

I dunno if it is the same reason, but I want everything so blazingly bright that I get a sunburn. Everyone else I know young and old prefers lower light or dark-style screens, and I "can't read" them.

Ha ha, I find I often like the "old school" style of lots of websites too!

To create a dark theme for phpBB, based on the main template, is not a very big challenge. You can test it simply with Firefox and the inspector, because all main colors are managed by CSS.
I made just some quick changes in firefox and that's the result:

Anyway, I like the idea of a dark mode theme. First of all it can safe some power because the monitor needs less light and it's not so bright for the eyes ;-)

I can offer my help with that, if the team is interested. I only need the used theme file(s)
