A teenage girl nicknamed Avariya - "Crash" - is a rebel child that just can't get along with her family members that try to persuade her to behave normally - that is as other people do. But when Avariya gets gang-raped, his father (who is a cop) breaks all the rules and goes out for revenge.

16 yo Oksana Arbuzova stars as Valeria, who dresses like a normal Russian schoolgirl by day but turns heavy metal chic on the streets of Moscow at night, where she's known as Crash (like a car accident). This movie made her famous in her home country for a few years. Apparently in that time life imitated art. She became more like her character, developed an attitude, didn't study, and her grades fell.

She eventually married a man who was ordained as a Russian Orthodox clergyman. They have six children now and remain married. Quite the change from her days as a teenage rebel. Unlike the professor in this movie, back then I would've been happy to let her "crash" at my place.

This movie didn't come with subs. I retrieved some in Russian from opensubtitles and autotranslated them. Not perfect but good enough. If we have any native Russian speakers on the board who feel like improving them, be my guest.

I've included both the DVD and a 720p web-dl version - just for those who prefer an .mkv file. It's a straight upscale of the disc so you won't get a sharper picture (although it's brightened somewhat). The subtitle file fits both the .mkv and the disc equally well, since the length and framerates are identical. Enjoy this early 90's classic!

Here are direct links for those who prefer that method or can't use eMule for whatever reason. All I ask is that if you're able to use eMule, please unrar to your shared folder and seed these for a while. Every source helps.

Wait ... you mean that in 1990 Russia, leather and heavy makeup were NOT the normal schoolgirl look? 8-)

Thank you deadman! I don't know if I am quite nostalgic for 1990 yet, but I am nostalgic for this era and type of Russian film. The machine-translated subtitles will suit me just fine. I will download the 720p MKV by eMule and the ISO with MEGA, then convert the ISO to an MKV as well because that is what I always do.

In real life I have known plenty of teen rebels who become stodgy conformists as adults. Whatever makes them happy!

Here's the link I used. I downloaded the disc from here, then did my usual editing to skip the startup copyright screens so it boots directly to the main menu. And added the subtitles of course. It doesn't come with English subs.

I've found that if you're looking for Russian films on rutracker, it does help to search with Cyrillic

A search on the Russian search engine Yandex is a good place to start. It will provide at least a few results with the movie's Cyrillic title, which you can then try in rutracker search - as you say, often the better approach. Although I would try the original language in addition to the Russian since for a few films that's not the case.
