ed2k link no longer work in Google Chrome AND aMule

Since about 2 days there's a strange behaviour in Google Chrome when I click on an ed2k link in this forum.
It just opens a new page with "about:blank#blocked" in the adress bar. The same thing happens to me in MS Edge.

I suspect that there was some kind of security update that caused this. I can't find anything in the browser settings to disable this bevaviour.

Anyone having the same problem?

I am sorry that you are having problems. I use Chrome most of the time and I am NOT having this problem. I also sometimes use Firefox and have in the past few days and do not have this problem there, either. I have Edge but try to avoid using it for anything except emergencies.

Your suspicion may be exactly correct. See this page here: https://askleo.com/what_is_aboutblank_a ... rid_of_it/

Normally I use the address bar to search, but in this case I had to put it in quotes:
"about:blank#blocked"

That's really strange. Also when I hover my mouse over the emule link, nothing is shown at the bottom of the page.
When I click on it, I get redirected to the "about:blank#blocked" page. A blank white page.

I'll try it with Firefox, which doesn't use the chromium engine.

I never even noticed this feature until you pointed it out.

This is definitely an unacceptable bug in your Chrome. I assume Chrome is updated. (?) In Chrome can you copy the ed2k link and then paste it into your eMule client? Or is Chrome also blocking the copying of ed2k links?

It always was working with Chrome until the latest update. I hope for the next updates. :|

It's not a link anymore, so I can't copy the ed2k link. I can only go to "Edit post" to get the plain text.

Maybe it got to do with them also breaking uBlock Origin with manifest v3

No, it's not about mainfest2 or manivest3 (at least I think so). I installed Brave Browser and I have the same issue with the links here. It must be the latest version of chromium.

I tested it in another forum which also has clickable edk2 links and it worked ( I clicked on the link and it opened in eMule). I think our html code is just not compatible with the latest version of chromium and needs to be changed.

Oh thank goodness! Don't mean to be happy about this situation, but now at least I know it's not just me. I recently had a minor computer crash and I was afraid this issue was part of that.

In my chrome browser, I get the same "about:blank#blocked" error, and no matter what I do to the settings, I cannot get it to work. But I was not as smart as ghost and didn't think of using edit page to acquire the link, I just used the ed2k:: has that shortypower lists out and pasted that into the emule search and hoped it showed up (does not always work).

I also had trouble on vimeo: the player controls never show up, so actually streaming from the site was not working. It seems to be fixed now.

I also don't like the idea of installing another browser. Hopefully this will just get fixed at some point in the future.
