This film is part of the official selection at Cannes 2025.

Renoir, directed by Chie Hayakawa (Plan 75), focus on an eleven-year-old girl coping with a terminally ill father and a stressed-out mother in the ’80s.
In Tokyo, Fuji becomes fascinated by telepathy and delves deep into her own fantasy world.

This is a screener that I managed to download before it was deleted (because it is against the rules where I got it from)

(With hardcoded English subtitles.)

"For your consideration... but not to be shared with the plebeians."

I am glad someone broke the rules and shared it anyway. Thank you for resharing it! I read a generally positive review that did warn that it is "glacially paced' which I guess is reviewer-speak for "slow". But since it was positively compared to the films of Ozu because of that, I can probably forgive the slow pacing. I can handle a slow 2-hour movie more easily than an action-packed 3-hour one! And since it is a "screener" that means I can pause it in my living room rather than be stuck in a theater full of people fidgeting in their seats.

I watched the film a few weeks ago and found it pleasant, though far less impactful than I had expected. Its biggest issue, in my view, is that it scatters itself across too many themes at once, which keeps it from really working. That said, little Fuki is absolutely charming, and the film features plenty of truly beautiful shots of her.

Thanks DreamScape for sharing this. I bet this one is likely to have an upgrade in the future. Still cannot help myself from downloading this now. I guess enough time has passed since the last time I looked at a screener that SOMETHING has happened. The quality of your file is considerably better than what I'd expect from a screener.

I will assist in sourcing this over emule with you, thequietgirl.

Even so, I've learned to hang onto these preretail files because they sometimes end up being the best source for subtitles later on.

Here's an upgrade. External subtitles, no watermark, better audio quality:
