I know you can post Youtube embeds so you can watch the video on the forums and not have to visit youtube

Is it possible to do the same with vimeo? or is yt the only video platform that support embedding

As far as I know it only works with YT. Vimeo is not supported. I don't know about other video platfforms.

Go to the Vimeo page and click the Share icon below the video. (It looks like an arrow pointing to 2 o'clock.)
Then Click "Embed" and "</> Copy embed code". It will look like this pasted into your message:

Edit it for just the https address, like this.

Put it in the youtube code and give it the FLM 900,500 limit. [Code] And then you have your Vimeo embed like at the top of this message. There might be other video streaming sites that work like that too, but I have not tried them.

(Don't ask why I used the Powerpuff girls as an example...)
