Language, subs and thoughts

When it comes to languages. I speak English as a first language. I took German formerly (school) and I have studied Swedish and Russian. I'm a bit of a culture freak.
My German and Swedish is ok but my Russian is very basic and I can’t read any of it.
I started to make English subs for the “eva och adam” series (I’m very fond of that show) that was released in German. But given there was no sub file to trans from plus the German was trans from Swedish and parts did not make sense to me. I now plan to get a few Nordic movies. That series being one of them.
The point of my post comes down too sub title files. For thous that rip. It's not a bad idea to rip the subs in there own language. It would be much faster for someone to make a trans when they can do it right from the txt. I still plan to translate "eva och adam" but that could take me a month. Movies are a bit easier. While I have never done a whole movie. I would bet at least a few days to complete one. I have been tempted to translate movies in the past but either it’s got no sub file or the sub file is not in a language I understand well enough. I know a lot of people on this forum speak a few languages. So if there is anyone who wants to learn how to make sub title files from scratch or translate a sub file. I would be more than willing to write a “How Too” and help out.
When things slow down for me this winter there are a few Swedish movie plus the eva och adam series I’m going to try and translate when I have time. I’m hoping it might catch on. If anything thing it gives me a reason to brush up on it.
Someone had asked me before about translating an English movie into Swedish… Umm well to me my Swedish sounds fine but I have been told I sound “dumb”. So I don’t think it would come out very well. But I don’t think that’s the case for everyone.
To sum it up. For thous of you that release movies in German and Swedish. I for one would be grateful for subs in the org language.
