Requested Files Help

Post by Moonee »   1 likes

Okay, since I'm new to the whole emule thing.. I have no idea what the "Requested File" page does (app.php/ed2k/list)

I'm assuming it's mainly for people trying to download a file but the file is no longer being shared?

I decided to use the feature for files I want but I can't get because it's not being shared at the moment.. Idk if this is the recommended way on trying to get a file shared but heh

Anyway, what does this tick mean next to the numbers?

On pages with ed2k links you can check the link and click "request files" and it is added to that page. Then some heroes on FLM will monitor the page and reshare files that they can.

I have been successful in requesting some pretty old files that someone kindly reshared them - thanks :D

Checkmark maybe just means you decided to share it? Unlike a torrent tracker, FLM isn't hooked up to ed2k itself and cannot automatically know what is being shared.

I'm just surmising based on the button in the lower right. I suppose the page doesn't remove files that someone said they were sharing.

They can then Check Mark the box to the left of the file and then click Share / Go at the bottom of the page. The Check Marks already there mean that someone has at least CLAIMED they are sharing it and this depends entirely on member honesty. ;) Of course anyone can reshare files to help even if they are already checked! All items stay there for a certain amount of time whether they are checked or not. (Two weeks, I think? A month? I don't remember.) EDIT: See mimzy's post below.

Ah, so it shows once anyone clicks on "Confirm Sharing"?

If adding a desired file to the Requested Files page does not work to get a source in a few days, then ask in the thread for a reshare. You will get the attention of more people that way.

Yeah, I thought that'd get more attention

Tbh, I've never really even knew a Requested Files section is a thing (And I'm most likely not even nearly the only person that didn't know of it)

It is tied to emule file sharing, so you had to start using emule first.
