Peppermint-Frieden (1983)

Anyone find a cover? or more detailed pics screens than those below :?
A movie about little Marianne's life in a little village 1943-1950. The peace comes in the shape of an American soldier who brings chewing gum to all the children, a soldier they call Mr. Frieden. Marianne's head is filled with fear of war and belief that the war will come back.
In this sometimes amusing view of post-war life in Germany from the perspective of little Marianne (Saskia Tyroller), "Mr. Peace" (Peter Fonda) is idolized because like other American soldiers, he is fast and loose with handing out chewing gum and peppermints to the children. When Marianne hears the village fire-and-brimstone preacher exhort the congregation about how sinners are doomed, she imagines all sorts of things that might befall "Mr. Peace." Marianne knows he has become attracted to the one woman in the village who has a reputation for being fast and loose with her favors. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
This was an incredible movie. Yes, it was artistic. No, it was not action-based. It was not MEANT to be a suspense film. It was meant to be a film portraying the psychosis of a terrified child surrounded by the lies adults commonly tell children. It is a fantasic picture of a child's world distorted by loss, fear, and confusion. If you are looking for a movie like Con Air, or Lord of the Rings, by all means go watch something else. This movie is more like Memento, but quieter, sadder, and rather more confusing.

Yeah, you really have to be interested in film to love this flick. But if you've got an eye for artsy movies, you'll love this.
