I found this film very amusing. Its dated, with some very mild ot-scenes. I can assure you that this film is certainly not as offensive as is suggested, although perhaps it was at the time of release. Before I watched The Molesters, I assumed the female victims would be played by women, but I was surprised to see that this was not always the case. 11-year-old Claudia Stettler was my fav character, but as usual I was left wishing for more........, but it was 1963 after all!!Long before Labyrinth of Sex made perversion look sexy, The Molesters kept things black-&-white dirty. Obviously, a film about child predators and sexual deviates requires special care and tasteful handling — which, of course, it doesn’t get here. No, The Molesters, essentially a cinematic textbook on sexual psychotics, its pure tabloid-style take-no-prisoners exploitation with a capital E, made even cruder by American-shot nudie-like inserts. In fact, The Molesters is probably even more shocking and offensive in today’s delicate climate than it was when theatrically released way back in 1963.
Appropriately enough, the first case study opens with a scene reminiscent of M as a little girl looks in the window of a pet store. A stranger soon approaches and — yes, yes — hours later she’s found alive but assaulted. The Swiss police quickly spring into action and, like an episode of CSI: Zurich, Creepy Guy #1 is tracked down and arrested. Oddly, a few shots — closeups of microscopic evidence and a Rorschach test — are in color—or used to be since the hues have faded to red on this otherwise gorgeous original 35mm theatrical print.
Then there’s 11 -year-old Claudia Stettler, who stays at the farm of Fred, Creepy Guy #2, and his widowed mother. Sure enough, when the widow’s away, Fred locks the maid in the barn and takes the doomed Claudia into the woods....
There’s also Steven Maag, an 11-year-old boy who testifies at the trial of Ferdinand Singer, Creepy Guy #3 and the "swine" who molested him. Unfortunately, it’s a case of he said / he said until bitchy Otto Senn, Creepy Guy #4 and one of Singer’s former "playmates," tells the court about Ferdinand’s "raspberry mole...."
Finally, high-school girl Karin Egger is seduced by her stepfather, Creepy Guy "Father... Father, let me go... No... Oh!...." Four months later, Karin learns she’s pregnant, the police are called, and stepdad decides to eliminate the evidence by strangling her....
But the cascade of Creepy Guys doesn’t stop there and we’re also treated to quick thumbnail Definitions of Degeneracy — such as "The Exhibitionist," "The Sadist," "The Peeping Tom/The Masochist," and "The Fetishists"— all of which are rather hilariously illustrated by more over-the-top deviant behavior, including some additional shot-in-the-U.S. footage.
Just have fun & enjoy
