This film provides a glimpse of what life at the Kirov school was like during the height of the Soviet era. It follows the children through one school year; from the grueling auditions where one class of twenty 8 to 13 year olds is chosen from thousands of applicants, to the rigorous rehearsals of upper-class students preparing for their final graduation performance. Separated from their families, these children are fully immersed in the art to which they will dedicate their lives. Heartwarming and visually stunning, The Children of Theatre Street is an inspiring tribute to the beauty of ballet as an art form and the strength of a dancer's devotion to there craft.
