A Tech Question

Post by biffsteel3 »   0 likes

Newby alert. My apologies in advance. What is the name of the e-mule server that hosts most of the movie files referenced on this site? I have Downloads that have been waiting for 8-months to DL. My auto-boot file corrupted and now I have to choose manually between two hundred seavers. I am using emuleclassic.com. Very slow and only a few files DL. Thanks for any help. Delete this thread whenever you think it is appropriate.

I’m not very technically minded, so the following information may well be corrected by the professionals.

As far as I know, it makes no difference what server you use except when doing searches.
By connecting to any server, your partial downloads will be globally queued on all servers.

Alternately, just use KAD.

Reading your recent posts I'm not sure wether you know what we are doing here. ed2k (eDonkey2000) is the protocol for a filesharing network. There are no movies hosted on any servers. Servers are only used for sampling the ip's of clients and the offered and requested files of the clients and provide these data for the clients. The network even runs without any servers, just by the users themselves. All you may have to do after a long time offline is to download a file with the ip's of some users actually connected; everything else goes automatically.

I don't know how you operate. I tried http://emuleclassic.com and got a spam - site requesting JavaScript etc. Better first have a look at the basics:
http://www.emule-project.net

then choose, download and install a decent client program:
http://www.eselfarm.info
Nice mods:
http://www.applejuice-community.eu/
http://www.neomule.tk/
Despite several members using it, I advise against the MorphXT mod, because the developement seems to be stopped.

And, for god's sake, read this FAQ section! Nearly all problems were already mentioned here!

I'm coming round to that way of thinking too.........
I run MorphXT here at home & with my limited upload speed it works well. However, I installed it at work where I have far superior bandwidth & quite frankly it was crap, even after fine tuning.
On ghost's & kj's recommendation I'm now running the cracked releaser Fireball mod......initial testing is very encouraging & I'm well impressed. Expect me to be tapping up users for fine tuning parameters.........this is worth some effort.......I've got 140 kb/s upload going begging!

the cracked Fireball 3.0 is just the best you can get for releasing files ;)

Thank you for the tips. Perhaps I should have said "file LINKS to movies" rather than "movies".
I have seen the FAQs a while back and attempted a tweak for speed that resulted in the corruption of a critical file.
I can no longer connect to the eD2K Network. Its status is "Disconected".
On my Servers Tab it lists the Server Name as "Classic Server" at 174.136.243.161 : 4661 Description: http://www.emuleclassic.com

I hate to loose all of my links and in-process downloads , but I probably need to reinstall emule from scratch.
I will monitor a few more days and try other server links for improved performance.
I thought that someone would say "Use this address -- 174.136.???.??? : 4???" and that would be that.

Thanks to ALL and Happy Hunting! (for files)

Nobody loses anything just for a new installation of an eMule client. Windows Explorer>Programs>eMule...>Temp is the file with the actual downloads, in Programs>eMule...>config you can find server.met and nodes.dat of server and Kademlia users addy's. Just copy all stuff you want to keep into the appropriate files of the newly installed program. :icon_secret

Wrong. Development is not stopped, though the development team has changed a little. Latest Update was April 20, to bring it up to base emule 0.49c.

I continue to be happy with MorphXT, it does what I want and does it well. When emuler tried it he reported to me it had issues with very low bandwidth (10kbs) connections, but I have excellent bandwidth and am happy. I will at some point probably check out Fireball, but if it is a releaser's mod then there are only a handful of people here who need it.

FLL: the tweaks of fireball mod can surely be useful for normal members as well. Some non-releasers on the norwegian forum started using it, and it is very handy for slotcontrol and FS given to multiples... In small communities this mod is like heaven... I have decreased the time i use for seeding new releases with 60 %, and the non-releasers share it much faster between them. A few mods have a harder time to find the fireball-clients, but that disadvantage is paid up fully by my gains as releaser and they as initial seeds.
