search won't work on KAD

When I select Automatic server and type something to search for apple juice just doesn't search anything
the button get's grayed out for one second then pops up again without searching anything? Why?

The various search options work differently.

Server: searches just that server, the one you are connected to.
Global: searches all the servers in your servers list. This can take several seconds.
Kad: searches the KAD network. This can take several seconds.

If the server you are connected to is not one of the big servers, a server search might not produce a result.


Type refers to the kind of file you are looking for, eg. archive (zip, rar, etc.) video (avi, mpg, mkv etc.)

What you call "Automatic server" is actually two separate entries in the method dropdown, "Automatic" and "server".

emuler already described how the "server" search works. "Automatic" means eMule itself decides whether to search using your server or to search using KAD instead.

Try searching again, specifically choosing "server" or "KAD" so you know where the search is going. Could be your search is going to a fake server or one with few files.

Since some time everytime I search something at Global (Server) all I get is a bunch of short (few MB´s) links named after my search, but being definitely porn. Does anybody have similar experience? I usually go for all available types of search, so no big problem, but it is a bit disgusting.

Those results come from fake servers. Make sure your serverlist is clean and repeat the search.

e.g. select all (CTRL+A) and delete all the servers in your list, then paste this URL in the update server.met from URL and update.
