[Image]A boy of about ten years of age (Shafiq Syed) is first kicked out of his home by his mother then abandoned by a traveling circus he found employment with. So, the lad heads off to Bombay, there finds employment as a "waiter" but hardly makes enough money to sleep anywhere other than on the streets, amongst drug addicts and prostitutes.
Will he ever manage to save enough to return to his home and beg his mom's forgiveness, or is Bombay a vacuum sucking up the souls of neglected youth? Yes, the plot has been done a number of times before, can be found in films like Pixote, Los Olvidados and Chronicle of A Boy Alone, but this one is so well done it almost makes the story seem totally original. Highly praised; winner of several awards, including the Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Recommended!
