Chased by some militia without scruples, Irina and her father flee. Her father shot by a sniper, Irina is alone and left to herself. She finds refuge in an isolated farm where she gradually gains the affection of all occupants, a pious Muslim and Bosnian family who wants nothing to do with the conflict. While outside the arrival of the UN and the Red Cross allows the region to normalize gradually, Irina shares the life of the farm and becomes friends with the young Malik.

But prejudice and resentment will soon disrupt the lives of this family without stories and threaten the budding friendship between two children. Their very survival will be compromised as they flee during a chilly night in the Bosnian mountains, still strewn with minefields.
