Jeannette, The Childhood of Joan of Arc


France, 1425. In the midst of the Hundred Years' War, the young Jeannette, at the still tender age of 8, looks after her sheep in the small village of Domremy. One day, she tells her friend Hauviette how she cannot bear to see the suffering caused by the English. Madame Gervaise, a nun, tries to reason with the young girl, but Jeannette is ready to take up arms for the salvation of souls and the liberation of the Kingdom of France. Carried by her faith, she will become Joan of Arc.

This is actually quite remarkable. Reminds me of Jesus Christ superstar and the annunciation, in some way .. lol

No subs at all.

oh mine is the arte tv rip with hardcoded german subs I'll post it as an alternative then. I couldn't get the filesize smaller at 720p so it's tit for tat. Any takers FWIW:

That film lacked something more than 'action' something very characteristic of French cinema where the central character is a girl

Aesthetically the film is superb (landscape, light,…), but for such a classical theme (Joanne of Arc), the approach could/should have been more traditional.

It vaguely reminded me of another mystical movie : Angyali üdvözlet, also playing with religious symbols.

Had some trouble with my laptop, I'm coming back a bit
I saw that movie and grabbed it full quality with no subs. If someone is interested I could share it... yet I know it's been released.
My post has another purpose : if some of you are using softwares or VPNs that allow you to mask your country and show up as being from France, consider downloading captvty software from captvty.fr : the best software ever made to grab replays from French tv !
You can download almost everything that is available for replay, during the time it remains on the channel's replay site. You can choose the quality (most of the time), AND... Arte happens to drop most of the movies they broadcast on replay !
If you need more information, just ask away

Welcome back! If the film is an upgrade (popdrome's version is 720p), then sure, go ahead and post it.
