Plot: "Eight year old Paul and his mother just moved to a skyscraper. After an embarrassing encounter with Anna, Paul meets her in the elevator. Anna makes fun of him and they start to quarrel. They can't arrange about going up or down. The elevator suddenly drops and carries them deep down into the realms of a wicked witch. The witch is out for their youth, since her own time is running out. Their only chance against her is for once to help together. They meet a blind horse, a clock without clock hand and a knight without courage helping them on their journey." (Tom Zoerner, as quoted by IMDb)

The focus is a little more on Paul (Tobias Gottschlich) in the beginning but most of the screen time both children are shown together - so it is clearly not a boy movie, though it's only the boy who has an OT scene. Anna is played by cute Anne Szarvasy (about 8 years old) ...

Don't download the DVD5 version from uloz! It's useless because one of the VOB files has been encrypted.

Nearly unbelievable that this well known and beautiful childrens fantasy movie that is probably influenced by The Wizard of Oz (1939) hasn't been posted yet ...

oh I've had a copy for 15 or so years but the quality is awful. This looks much better!

English subtitles slightly modified from the ones at TheNextThing. Anna seems to be very amused by little Paulchen.

Thank you citronleaf! I already had Warg's file but I think I got it before I discovered TNT. I used your subs to watch it again. Good fun!

pillowbaker - No, I do not think I changed the text because I can not improve on their translation. I just changed the sync a little bit and used the Subtitle Edit "Fix common errors" feature. That seemed to make short subtitles longer and add missing periods. I hope it did not mess anything up.

Oh I see. When using that tool, just make sure you approve every change rather than "apply all", as I've seen it try to make some rather silly corrections. The missing punctuation is always appreciated though!

Did you download the DVD5 that's on TNT?

I can't help but interject: *I* downloaded the TNT DVD5 after searching out the source of citron's subs but I did not see any quality difference with Warg's rip (which I had already reshared for a request) so I said nothing. Oops, just ruined that. The DVD had trailers... Note, I did not notice any issues with citron's corrected subs when I watched the movie with them, but I did not bother to compare them to TNT's original subtitles either. (And yes, I actually sat down to rewatch a movie I already had rather than search out another copy first!)
