I don't have an account but it has worked up to 1 GB until now.

I have not encountered your "temporary error retrying" recently, and I can not remember whether I did in the past, but I know I have had SOME sort of errors for Mega downloads before. I have an account but I have not tried to UPload anything lately, and I always download when I am logged out. In Chrome you should generally be able to exceed 1 Gb for Mega; I seem to remember Firefox limits the download size. However, downloading Mega (and other direct and streaming links) works best for me with JDownloader 2. (I am using it this moment to download a Toasty Mega link.) It is FREE, it does not limit file size, it is fast, it can download at least 3 links simultaneously, you can resume interrupted downloads, it does not give me Mega errors, you can copy and paste multiple file links simultaneously, it has the option to extract multipart archives automatically upon download completion, and you can also plug in the password for protected archives. This is great for sites like blizzardkid and the.nextthing.club.
