Hmmm, with both options flawed for 6&9, I will stick with what I have rather than compare with the other choice.

I have been working on syncing and quick-translating the external Chinese subtitles that are available, in between everything else with FLM. The raredoramas site had another episode duplicated in place of Episode 10, which would likely be superior in quality to the YouTube video I found. So I am calling out to anyone who has SEASON 2 as provided by aliceclub in the first post and did not drop their hard drive like I did: CAN YOU SHARE just Season 2 Episode 10? That is all I really need now. When I am all done I will share them on eMule.

It would probably be called "Ie naki Ko 2 - 10.avi" and be about 700Mb, if it is like the other episodes. Thanks.

I got the various music files that came with it as well. How are those Chinese to English subtitles turning out? I've been experimenting with old Chinese subtitles from martial arts films, and they turned out pretty good, actually.

THANK YOU! I did not try to recover any of this series at the time of hard drive death because I only had limited free space, accomplished by wiping an old drive. 18+GB is a lot and I had to make choices, so I settled for just the movie. Glad I have it all now. The Chinese subtitles are all synced (except for this new version of Ep10) but only one got translated, as a test to make sure it produced comprehensible English. Google has improved. I have no intention of doing any corrections because "as is" will be good enough to understand it. Seeing lots of spoilers for Season 2 with the subtitle sync when I have not even finished Season 1, I can see that it is a LOT MORE WILD. Totally over-the-top, nose-bleedingly hysterical soap-opera melodrama like I usually only see in Korean dramas, but with swordplay, yakuza, and gore. I sort of suspect that it may not be as believable or sentimental as Season 1, but it certainly looks entertaining.

SEASON 2
I resynced the existing Chinese subtitles from YouTube to the best available video, shared by aliceclub.

I did a quick machine translation to English from the Chinese subtitles, with minor corrections.
The English subtitles are usable but still have obvious cleanup issues needed.

Every time I scan through this thread it gets longer and longer and I comprehend less of it.

There are the YouTube autogenerated Japanese subtitles, but they are terrible and produce an even worse translation. What we REALLY need is more people who can master Whisper / AI-generated subtitling. I have tried repeatedly but my results are abysmal. At least the last few times, the software actually completed the process for me instead of coming back with run errors or locking up my older underpowered computer!
