OH NO!!! Now it makes it harder for me to check my external drives to see if I have a file to reshare, because I have to search external drives by filename and not emule hash!

:icon_biggrin2

Well, I guess I will never reshare THAT one again, because I will end up thinking it is yet another case where I Liked a post but did not download it...

Now, if someone wants to donate a 12 TB NAS to me so I can share everything all the time ... :P

If you download something for the first time…and 3 people are sharing it on emule..with all having named the file differently..you’re getting the file name from the download you choose from searches?
Yes. It's still the same file. You can rename it to whatever you want. It's still the same file hash. You even can rename a file in eMule while downloading it (just pressing F2 on Windows).

That's the reason, why so many fakes are around. You think your're downloading Matrix Resurrections and you're getting a porn.

So in the future I can keep my file names and release it under a different name. Pretty cool.

So in that case you leave it on your NAS with your original preferred minimalist file name, and simply edit the name in the ed2k link that you post on FLM? Am I understanding this right?

Yes, that is pretty cool!

If I ever get around to releasing another movie, I think I am going to start naming my emule releases as "Scooby Doo Episode ##" just to exasperate the Scooby Doo fans who unwittingly download it.

Yep. That's what I was thinking of. It should work.

And don't worry, I'm not going to rename alll my previous releases here in this forum.

My big concern with editing the name in an ed2k link in a post is that non-English characters like "ø" show up with a % around other characters to recode it. Would posting a new name with just a simple copy-paste of non-English characters convert properly in an FLM post? Or would it actually have to be processed in an eMule client? I ask because renaming it in eMule the way that I know how to do it also changes the filename on the harddrive. I have never dared edit an ed2k link in a post itself.

There are too many to do that! You need to have some time for actually watching movies.

I just have to test it. It worked fine with Nonneborn. If I try to download the new link, eMule says the file still exists on my drive.

A 12 TB NAS and an extra internet bill!

OMG thank you ghost! I did not know about this feature! I thought I had to wait till it finished downloading (this IS the case in shared directory).

Night brings up a good point. I myself like consistent filenames (and slightly more minimal too), but to go through and rename all my movies and music files would be impractical and significantly absurd. And renaming them make it a bit more difficult to reshare and reseed, which is something I honestly enjoy doing. That said, I managed a pretty good middle ground method going through everything and modifying the worst offenders. Nowadays, everything gets organized as it downloads or immediately after.

I am still impressed by how good this movie (Nonnebørn) looks upscaled. I recently splurged and got a 14 TB NAS for purely for backing up and I look forward to many more years of releases (I promise I have some more to contribute!)

Nah, I am fine with my upload speeds even if others may want it to be better. With a huge drive shared ALL THE TIME, I will never again have to transfer files from an external drive and remove them two weeks later so I can reshare OTHER files. It is totally for my convenience while still sharing the files I would like to share. I would not keep the NON-FLM files on it. Anyone interested in my NON-FLM files can go to hell. They ain't gettin' 'em.

I did? When?

I almost never rename FLM files I have downloaded anymore, I just put them in a folder named with as much information as *I* need, if I have more than one version:
Movie Name (year) 1080p ghost's FLM 01-2023 version.short
or something like that.

Sometimes non-FLM files get renamed, but that gets so tedious that I mostly just use the folder trick for those too.

If I direct-downloaded a file and I end up helping share it when someone else puts it up on emule before I do, I will rename it in emule to match their naming-scheme. (And on my external drive, so it matches the FLM name.) I had used the tedious right-menu method but now I will be happy to use F2, if I remember it. Thanks ghost!

I had to do it again. ;)

This time in Full HD, a sharper picture and some little color changes.

This looks great, ghost! Thank you. I have not yet watched this one, but it's on my list as a classic.
