There are 2 VHS-Rips and a BD Remux.

So if you want to have it in good quality, you have to download 32.5 GB. :mrgreen:

I am stupid and am downloading it despite the fact that I don't have the drive space. But it IS a post-apocalyptic tale, after all. It seems to have Russian or Norwegian audio; subtitles in Russian, English, or Norwegian.

I heard about this movie years ago on CG. I nabbed one of the VHS rips and was impressed by its desolate, harsh atmosphere. I stopped after about 15 minutes in for some reason. possibly to search for higher quality versions. I do enjoy the post-apocalyptic genre. I am hoping, if a 32gb remux exists, eventually a BDrip will come along someday.

Thanks, ferdi. I'll choose your link then.

I like the apocalypse genre. I*m curious about this one.

Although still a massive 10gb this one is based on only 720p, and because it's 2.35:1 will be quite narrow (wide apocalpytic landscapes).
I can do a re-encode to 3-4gb once I get the big 32gb torrent!
In Handbrake it's easy. Simple guide... h.264 (x264) Filters. All to off. no resizing. Keep frame rate "same as source" + constant frame rate. Use "slow" preset. Tune main. Level of 4.1 if you have a good graphics card, 2 pass, turbo fast pass with a bitrate of 5000 say. Re-encode audio to AAC 128kbit if it's a large stereo DTS. (5.1's can run 1200kb/sec and are 3x the size of AC3 (384 for 5.1) and 5x the size of AAC 5.1). Leave as AC3 5.1 if it detects AC3. Go away for 3-20 hours depending on your PC.
Some people need to buy some 8TB HDDs :) You can get them for under $200.
The 6000 bitrate can be converted to mb by doing the following.
6000/8 = kb per second = 625kb/sec AVERAGE!! It will vary between 200 and 4000 probably
0.625x3600 = mb per hour = 2225mb. = About 4gb for a 105 minute film. I wouldn't set a 1080 film below 4000kb Or a 720p film below 3000kb or on a big 65inch TV you're going to see some loss in quality.

4700kb of audio in 3 massive tracks - sooooo wasteful!
Russian (DTS-HD MA, 2 ch, 2048 kbps + 1509 kbps ) + Norwegian (FLAC, 2 ch, 1188 kbps)
the other thing is keeping only the Norweigan audio and converting FLAC to 128kb AAC. So that's 4700kb audio in 3 tracks -> 1 track of 128kb!! and some people would do 96kb AAC !!

Thanks: mexlink, DreamScape, ferdi, David. The last I heard from David he was struggling for progress downloading the massive 32Gb BDRemux, so I am offering my own petite 1080p encode from that source. It is not quite as small as a YTS file but it is much more manageable.

This post-apocalyptic tale is slow and melancholy and definitely NOT "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome." The movie would have been better served by spending more time with the young boy rather than his father, who is the least interesting character among the eccentrics in this wasteland. This barely qualifies for FLM because the boy's onscreen presence is quite sadly so small. He only has brief supporting scenes and little dialog, but what presence he had made me wish for more.
