Adding more shared eMule folders

Every eMule setup comes with a "temp" folder for partial files that are downloading and an "incoming" folder for files downloaded complete.

You may want to add more Shared folders if you have many files to share and you want to organize them. You may also want to change the names or locations of your "temp" and "incoming" folders.

WARNING: Do NOT share your system files or the entire contents of a drive if you do not know what is on it! ONLY share files that you feel you can safely make public. For example, if you have a text file that contains all your passwords for all the sites you visit, you definitely do NOT want to share THAT in eMule! I myself share movies, music, and subtitles.

From any tab in eMule Click "Tools" and then "Open Incoming Folder..."

Go up one level to your eMule folder. [NOTE: I do not honestly remember the exact default eMule setup anymore because I have changed my own in a number of ways! Forgive me if I misremember some details.]

Look at all the Shared Folders that I have! A basic setup will have "temp" and "incoming" folders, marked below with green arrows. I created a new folder called "Sample New Folder To Add For Sharing" (in the red box). That folder is not yet shared. I will show how I shared it.

Go to the Shared Files tab in eMule. Look at the list of Shared Directories on the left. (Click + to expand it if necessary.)
You can see that "Sample New Folder To Add For Sharing" is NOT listed there.

Click "Options" and go to "Directories" in the popup.
On the right side of the popup, you can change the location of your "incoming" and "temp" folders.
I left them with the NAMES "incoming" and "temp" in the "emule" folder, but I put them on a larger drive.
I have eMule installed on my C: drive (where most of my software is installed), which is fairly small.
I wanted the files saved on my D: drive which is 8 times larger and it is where I keep my data.
I changed this setup long ago. Changing it while you still have partially downloaded files is a BAD idea.
If you want to change it, wait until everything is complete.
I left all my other eMule config files and folders in the Emule folder on the C: drive and I DO NOT TOUCH IT.

Navigate your potential Shared Directories in the popup window. Click + to show the Subdirectories. Find the folder that you want to share.
Put a check mark in the box next to the folder you want to share. Then click "Apply" and then click "OK".

"Sample New Folder To Add For Sharing" has appeared on the left in my list of Shared Directories.

The files in that folder have loaded and are now available to share in eMule!

NOTE: You can share any folder on your computer SO BE CAREFUL. I also torrent files. Once a torrented file is downloaded 100% complete, I will sometimes navigate to that folder in my eMule Options/Shared Directories popup and share it in eMule too. That way I can share the same file in both torrent and eMule without having to copy it over to another folder. I can selectively UNSHARE some of the files in that folder too. But mostly, I like to keep ALL my shared eMule files in one big folder with multiple subfolders. For me that big folder is called "emule".
