I found the same version at uloz without hardcoded subtitles.

I tried to correct the colors and Topaz helped me to improve the picture quality a bit.
It's still not DVD quality, but the best version we can get.

Bloody hell - this looks brilliant compared to what I saw before! And not having low-res, off-angle, hardcoded subs really helps!
I did spot there's a half corrupt / flash frame around 4m53 that causes an odd flash. You render to an image sequence? Maybe one got damaged? If you still had them you could maybe duplicate a good frame number to fix it

This "flash" was just an error in the old VHS tape.

Ghost - may I suggest trying this filter to fix the fact the Chroma has shifted about 20-30 pixels to the left. All this yellowy colour is affected. You only see it in some scenes (dependent on if this colour band is present) but it's a analogue issue and this filter fixes it perfectly.
I'm sure you've heard of virtualdub - but not many know of this filter. Virtualdub can import sequences of images, can also render out /handle a uncompressed vidoe (I get a 180gb file on a film this size) - let me know your thoughts. This is me just photoshopping the still image.[Image]

I could try and do it myself - but I'd have to turn your mp4 into an uncompressed AVI. run the filter. Then re-encode. It'd be better you working off your master. If it's worth revisiting - and I know you've revisited some of your others
