Re: [REL] Deux enfoirés à Saint-Tropez (1986)
Sorry, I may have misunderstood, do you have the 1080 file or were you just pointing out that it's available? I wish I could do Canal but it seems like one of those where you need a foreign payment method
Re: [REL] Deux enfoirés à Saint-Tropez (1986)
If there's a real 2160p version, that sure would be appreciated!
Re: [REL] Deux enfoirés à Saint-Tropez (1986)
Here you are. Yes, the file size is big, but the picture quality is superb, considering the year the movie was shot...

Re: [REL] Deux enfoirés à Saint-Tropez (1986)
Thanks a lot, jez!!!Here you are.
I wonder what the source was. Is it real 4K or just upscaled.
Re: [REL] Deux enfoirés à Saint-Tropez (1986)
It doesn't seem like an upscale because the people's faces lack the "plastic" look that is, unfortunately, still typical of all AI upscales. I would assimilate the picture quality (and the file size, too) to the untouched Bluray rip.
Re: [REL] Deux enfoirés à Saint-Tropez (1986)
Yes, this was mostly in the old versions of the software. The AI models have improved a lot and look much more natural. It doesn't seem like an upscale because the people's faces lack the "plastic" look that is, unfortunately, still typical of all AI upscales.
I am asking, because there isn't a Blu-ray of this movie. As far as I know, it is streamed only in 720p.

I transferred this file to a thumb drive to view on my TV, the only 4K screen I currently own - my monitors are all 1080p so 2160p files appear like bluray quality. The verdict: this version is indeed genuine 4K rather than an upscale. Not HDR, so some of the darkest scenes are slightly too dark, but otherwise absolutely amazing quality. Thank you jez!
Most films going all the way back to the 1930's were shot on film that's at least the equivalent of 4K. Many would look even better in 8K. While modern films shot on digital cameras are sometimes limited to 2K resolution, a sort of fuzzy middle ground between 1080 and 2160. You might've assumed old black and white films from the 30's and 40's would have less native resolution than ones shot in the last 20 years. Not necessarily though. The first Star Wars trilogy from the 70's and 80's exists in better quality than the second trilogy from the early 2000's. For some reason Lucas used 2K digital cameras so we will never have more than an upscaled 4K of those, whereas the older films are available in true 4K.
Canal Studios has a streaming service, Canal+. I'm not sure I could subscribe and get all their content here in the US - but I'm willing to bet that's where jezevex's file was captured from. There are quite a lot of films here from France (can't imagine why ). I wonder how many others are in 4K now?
