Backup(s) exist? :D (I know people that store 100TB at GDrive for 30€/month or something).

I would have expected maybe even more hdd space with you :D

I got something like 35TB in externals but some have data I could still delete a lot of it. For example VR360/VR180 videos can be really big in file size due to being 5k or 8K resolution at 100Mbit/s Bitrate and 60FPS. Also..like I download an entire tv show for a family member (300-400GB in 720p) and then I am not sure if I wanna delete it all or keep it since downloading it did cost some work/effort lol. And one day I might wanna create my own Plex/Jellyfin/Emby server for the whole family/friends..

The sad truth is, If I’d get a couple new 10TB or 16TB drives, I know I could easily fill them up in a short amount of time! I got long enough lists of data I‘d want to backup/save/share..

If you just store all of Gåme óf Thrones (8 seasons) in highest quality, you already have to store something like 2TB! The people that store all of their movies as 4K bluray remuxes are crazy ! (These kind of people usually have 200TB servers at home)

Sure! My NAS is connected to an external 12 TB hdd. An automatic backup is running every night. I really don't wanna lose all my treasures. :o

I only store movies on it (no Blu-ray remuxes) and still have about 6 TB space. This should last for the near future. ;)

I have considered getting a bank safety-deposit box for backup harddrives. Most of my other "stuff" could burn.

I don't care about my appartment, but my holy hdd's :o

We could also trust online clouds, but we don't.

I mean you could Cryptomator or rsync that’s can encrypt/decrypt data on the fly if I remember correctly. (Manually encrypting with RAR/7z wouldn’t be feasible.

But personally my upload speeds are too mediocre for me to upload TB‘s of data. My most important stuff that can’t be retrieved (family photos) is maybe 100GB which you can always just put on a USB drive these days (regularly..since it could get corrupted/bit rod). Or hell even put it on dvds/Blu-ray’s or a external 500Gb stored at a relative/friend.

If it’s just mainstream Films/shows, Usenet is a Good Option (but risky If you’re uploading copyrighted content without vpn and the provider has your payment details). Obviously there are ways to do it safely

Nah! I don't my files in the hand of some server somewhere in the world. AND IF THEIR DRIVES SHOULD CRASH? :o

And another thing: it's isn't for free.

I'm optimistic and think, that my appartment won't burn down. ;) I even stopped smoking.
