I saw a French movie once years ago that I'd love to find again. It was about a nerdy overweight guy who still lives with his parents'. He meets a young woman and her daughter (about 8 years old) who are down on their luck and need a place to stay for the night. He offers her his room and he'd sleep with his grandfather. Something to help identify this movie - the woman joked that the guy's glasses made him look like Buddy Holly. The end of the movie finds the three of them on the train platform. She and the girl are going back to her old boyfriend. He's sad but she cheers him with another joke about his glasses.

Anybody recognize this flick? I'm sorry if there's not enough info - it's been at least 30 years since I saw it. Several mild OT scenes.

I've spent quite a bit of time on research trying to identify this & come up with nothing.
Fat nerdy guy?.......jokes about Buddy Holly glasses?.....we ought to be able to identify this.Anybody any ideas?........Any more info from memory Phuzzy?

Hmmm. The little girl wore the very short skirts common at the time. When she and her mother were getting ready to sleep in the guy's bed (and watching him try to fall asleep next to his old, snoring grandpa was hillarious), they both nonchalantly get undressed, much to his amazement.

The mother sort of palmed off babysitting on him while she learned tennis from a "pro". Eventually the mother goes back to her boyfriend - goodbye scene at the train station where girl was vigorously trying to pull a vending machine open with one foot on it. The guy had one of those one-person 3-wheel cars and it was a hoot when all three of them tried to crowd into it.

I saw this in the early 80's - can't say where. Just one of those things buried in the past that coming here bumped my memory about.

Very sad that we couldn't find any more info about this...

Thanks Arthorius. I've looked through this list all the way back to 1960 and didn't see anything that resembled the movie or characters. Of course, many of the films don't have a synopsis, either in Wikimedia or IMDb, so I can't be sure it's not one of those. Also, the film I'm thinking of may have been a made-for-television production. I just don't know, but I appreciate your efforts.

I wish I could remember even one word from its title but I can't. I looked at that site and I've tried allocine.com too, but can't narrow it down to anything close. Thanks for trying, though.
