I'm guessing right from the very start.
infiniter wrote:Get a clue, guys. ED2K sucks! It's slow, it's slow... and it's slow. And you always have to be online for the upload.
This doesn't sound like a good example of the community spirit we enjoy here. ed2k & this forum are a pleasant change from the modern morals of taking & giving back fuck-all. You stroll in here after a 3 month absence & rubbish the client our forum hinges on but I guess are perfectly happy to use that same client when it suits you. I notice you're downloading my single source release of 'Her Desperate Choice' & will likely be the first to complete. Are you intending continuing to share or will you just disappear when completed as you're used to with Usenet?
infiniter wrote:Have you ever counted how often you upload a specific movie on eMule? If you want to concentrate the stuff to a group like this forum, then password the post and post it here. There is a group related to the TLM site which is ideal for the stuff here.
We could make requests in a form of a poll for certain older movies to upload to Usenet.
Think it over.
So you see us fullfilling a role as an nzb indexing site? I thought those were already available & yes, you need to pay for them too!
FLL has the right idea when saying different download methods should (& can) complement each other. However, this has always been an ed2k forum & as such should be respected.

I was just about to hit the submit button on this release when I checked & saw calimero had just posted the link that I was going to report as probably OK but unverified.......thanks calimero!
Doubtless this will frustrate you even more infiniter because it's not one of the links you posted but here's my 2cd size standard XviD rip of the DVDR posted on Usenet. The only other equivalent file size on eMule has 'Rus' cropping up sufficiently in the name to indicate it's probably a Russian dub. I've mulled over whether to release this or not for an hour or so but I've ripped it already so might as well.

Don't you do the same with Usenet? You seem to download a lot from there, but do you also *post* in Usenet to give back? I've never seen good Usenet posters being "treated as an irritant asswipe".

The movie looks cute, but I will probably grab it from Usenet, because it is much faster ;)

Well, maybe I will buy the disc after all.

Thanks to infiniter for posting this and thanks to everyone else for help :)

@BizarreLoveTriangle
"Oh no! I just *love* flamewars :evil "
LOL

just healthy banter . i am thankful for the original post by infiniter and usenet otherwise i wouldn't be watching this tonight. too bad infiniter had to be so not controlled over his emotions. i have not tried usenet myself and i think it deserves a look into. but it as every other tool i use to obtain a movie it is to do just that. as we are all guests even as members on this site i feel it is only right to show respect that this has been deemed as an emule site. ;) and as far as sharing here i would say that you BLT have some excellent contributions here. but seeing that you talk about downloading quickly from these other sites and yet can't upload at even dial up speed. i would like to ask if perhaps you just don't have emule configured correctly? under options-connections you can decide how much upload speed is allowed. it is an honest question as you are obviously trying to contribute.(thank you) i would just like to help you do so more directly :cool

Same vein it seems, as the Bibi Blocksberg movies... And HEY; it's a Walt Disney International release!! :think

Looks fun! :)

I think we are talking about different time scale. When I say that I can download from Usenet "fast", I mean that I can download a 700MB movie in few hours (*not* in 5 minutes like starfish21 :crazy).

Talking about downloading via eMule, I added kev's "Nagai sanpo" almost 2 weeks ago and it is currently 1.1% completed... It is OK, though, as long as there are other movies in my download queue that are being downloaded.

I am relatively sure that my eMule is configured correctly. I am well connected and have a highID; the max upload speed that I have set is often not reached.

It should be noted that I am sharing *everything* I have downloaded so far, so there is a very large number of clients who want to download from me. I've set my own posts to "release" though.

I'm sharing too and there are more than 1000 users waiting. My problem is I can only use 15% of our DSL bandwidth up/down or my wife complains that her stupid online game lags - 85% for her exclusive use seems perfectly fair to her. She plays 5 minutes, does something else for 10, plays 5 minutes, etc. so I can't sneak in more bandwidth between times. I can only go full speed 2AM to 6AM. :wall If someone is waiting to download from me, please be patient!

i understand completely about sharing your upload between several people. now i can truly appreciate your efforts. :cool

one thing i do is try and release only a few files at a time and not release more than i can handle with what i am sharing of other files. i share down files i have downloaded and when i see several sources i take the file out of my share folder. same with my releases. i can always reshare if the request is made. fortunately i have decent broadband so i can do more than most.
on your personal rips i will be patient for the download and the other posts as long as you give a hint to where you obtained than i am sure someone will help share it. of which i have already noticed this has been happening.

cheers :thumbsup

As ptg points out not really flamewars, just banter. I'd also like to consider it being able to express a point of view in a sensible manner. However you must understand I'm always going to defend this forum & those who contribute.

No I don't believe I do the same with Usenet. I'm not aware I've posted in any of the groups rubbishing the client they use for downloading. Nor did I mention good Usenet posters being "treated as an irritant asswipe". I have however experienced newcomers being treated to rudeness & contempt when asking a simple polite question that was felt to be breaking their code of etiquette.
In an ideal world I'd love to be able to repay & upload to Usenet........expressions such as 'not enough hours in the day' & 'other things to do with my life/time' spring to mind. Please understand the majority of material I download from Usenet is destined for FLM in some shape or form which I think can probably be considered as giving back or sharing.

As Ringo said.........Peace and Love
