Unless I'm somehow downloading my own files from myself, I keep seeing someone else using my nick. It takes a lot of cojones to leech off a guy after you steal his nick. I assume he's hoping to get friended or something by people who recognize the nick since I don't think he can steal my rating or score... or can he?

Is there a way to immediately kick someone out of my upload queue? He dropped real quick when I messaged him. I can't keep him from going to other eMulers, but I definitely want him off my eMule - permanently. <grumble grumble grumble> If/when I see him again, I'll try to get his IP - I'll block his whole damn Class C range. :icon_ban Is there a better way to block someone from your eMule than ipfilter.dat?

Accept no substitutes, folks.

there are some programs that will mask an ip by mirroring the individual they are downloading from. it is a very effective way to download anonymously. i have seen my nick copied several times... or you can take it as flattery that you are admired to such length that they want to be just like you. :heart

i wouldn't worry about it to much.

I don't see how copying the nick can lead to much anonymity... no name at all works just as well in that regard. My belief if that the name-copying is designed to make the client look like they are in the same communities as you are, e.g. "[FLM]", and thus get better upload speed. But maybe there is something else going on there, I haven't looked into it a couple of years.
